Grounding Bed Mat FAQs
What is the difference between the Single and Full-Size Bed Mat?
Both Bed Mats are made from the same conductive, soft carbonised vegan leather material and work in exactly the same way.
The Single Bed Mat measures 200cm × 70cm and is ideal for one person or for placing along one side of a larger bed. The Full-Size Bed Mat measures 200cm × 150cm and provides greater coverage for couples or anyone wanting more of the mattress covered.
Will the Bed Mat fit my mattress?
Yes. Both sizes include adjustable straps designed to secure the mat to mattresses of different sizes.
You can position the mat lengthways for more full-body coverage, or across the lower part of the bed if you prefer to ground your lower body. The straps keep it securely in place under your fitted sheet.
How do I set up the Bed Mat?
Place the mat on your mattress and secure it using the adjustable straps. Put your normal fitted sheet over the top, then connect the included 5m grounding cord to the mat and the grounding adapter.
Plug the adapter into a properly earthed wall outlet. The power point does not need to be switched on — the mat uses only the earth connection, not active electricity.
Can I use my normal sheets and wear pyjamas?
Yes. The Bed Mat is designed to sit underneath your regular fitted sheet, so you can continue using your normal bedding and pyjamas.
Cotton, bamboo, flannelette, silk and wool sheets are all suitable. It does not need direct bare-skin contact to be used as intended.
Can I use a mattress protector or topper?
We recommend placing the Bed Mat directly on the mattress, with only your normal fitted sheet over the top.
Avoid putting a thick mattress protector, topper or another underlay between the mat and your body, as extra layers can interfere with the connection.
What is the Bed Mat made from?
The Bed Mat is made from soft carbonised vegan leather with an added layer of silver thread underneath for enhanced conductivity.
It is durable, comfortable beneath a normal fitted sheet and made for easy everyday use without needing regular machine washing.
How do I clean the Bed Mat?
Simply wipe the Bed Mat with a soft, damp, non-abrasive cloth. You can leave it on your mattress while doing this.
Do not put the Bed Mat in the washing machine or dryer, and avoid high heat or harsh cleaning products.
Is the Bed Mat safe to use while sleeping?
Yes. The Bed Mat connects only to the earth port of a properly installed outlet — it does not use active electricity.
Every Urban Hippee grounding cord has a built-in 100kΩ safety resistor. The top two adapter pins are plastic, while the earth pin creates the grounding connection.
Can I use a power board or extension lead?
Yes. You can use a properly functioning power board, double adapter or extension lead, provided it has a working earth connection.
If you would like to check your outlet, you can use a socket tester or multimeter. Our support team can help if you are unsure.
