Different lens colours provide different levels of blue light filtering, so the best choice depends on when you plan to wear them.

Clear daytime lenses filter around 30% of blue light. They are ideal for everyday screen use, helping reduce digital eye strain while keeping colours looking natural.

Yellow daytime lenses filter around 70% of blue light. They provide stronger protection for longer screen sessions, glare reduction and visual comfort during the day.

Amber sleep lenses filter around 99% of blue light. They are designed for evening use to reduce blue light exposure before bed and support your natural melatonin production.

Red sleep lenses filter up to 100% of blue and green light. They provide the strongest evening light protection for people who want to minimise artificial light exposure before sleep.

Not all blue light glasses offer the same lens clarity or filtering performance. Many cheaper glasses use polycarbonate lenses with a noticeable reflective coating and lower optical clarity.

Our glasses use premium CR-39 lenses with an anti-reflective coating for clearer vision and more comfortable everyday wear. CR-39 has an Abbe value of around 58, compared with around 30 for standard polycarbonate lenses — meaning better optical clarity.

Every pair is spectrometer tested to verify its blue light filtering performance, so you are getting genuine protection rather than just a coloured lens.

Our sleep glasses are tested to filter up to 100% of blue light across the key 400–550nm range.

We offer fit-over blue light sleep glasses designed to sit comfortably over most reading glasses and prescription frames.

Our fit-over style is currently available with an amber lens, making it a great option for reducing blue light exposure in the evening without needing to change your prescription glasses.

Put on your amber or red sleep glasses, then look at the image below. If the blue circle appears very dark or black, it shows that your glasses are effectively filtering blue light.

This simple visual test is designed for our amber and red sleep glasses. It will not work in the same way with our clear or yellow daytime glasses, as those lenses are designed to allow some blue light through for comfortable daytime use.

Clear lenses: Wear during the day for casual screen use, office work and artificial indoor lighting. They help reduce digital eye strain without significantly changing colour perception.

Yellow lenses: Wear during the day when you have extended screen time, work under bright LED lighting or are prone to eye fatigue and headaches.

Amber lenses: Wear around 2–3 hours before bed while watching TV, using your phone, working on a computer or sitting under artificial lighting.

Red lenses: Wear around 2–3 hours before bed when you want the strongest possible protection from blue and green light, especially during evening screen use.
