What is the difference between the three grounding mats?
Grounding Mat

Can I use a grounding mat in bed?
Yes. You can use a grounding mat in bed by placing it where your body will stay in contact with it and connecting the included grounding cord.
Because the mat is not fitted to the mattress, it may move during the night. If you want larger coverage that stays securely in place, a grounding underlay or fitted grounding sheet may be a better option.
Do I need direct skin contact?
Direct skin contact is recommended when using the standard Grounding Mat or the Soft Earthing Pad. They can be used under bare feet, hands, legs or another area of exposed skin.
The Premium Multi-Use Grounding Mat is designed to work through normal clothing, making it useful on a couch, chair or bed.
How do I clean my grounding mat?
The black Grounding Mat can be wiped clean with a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals, oils and abrasive cleaning products.
The Soft Earthing Pad and Premium Multi-Use Grounding Mat can be cleaned according to their supplied care instructions. Always disconnect the grounding cord before cleaning or washing.
How do I connect the grounding mat?
Attach the grounding cord to the connection point on the mat, then plug the other end into the supplied Earthing adapter connected to a properly installed and grounded wall outlet.
The adapter connects only to the earth connection and does not connect to the active electrical supply.
Is a grounding mat safe to use?
When used as directed with a properly installed and grounded power outlet, the grounding cord connects only to the earth connection and not to active electricity.
Our grounding cords also include a built-in safety resistor for added protection. If you are unsure whether your outlet is correctly grounded, we recommend checking it with a socket tester before use.
How do I know my grounding mat is working?
Every Urban Hippee grounding product is tested for conductivity before dispatch.
If you would like to check the connection yourself, you can use a multimeter to perform a conductivity or body-voltage test.
When performing a body-voltage test, make sure you are sitting or lying on the mat so your body is properly connected to the conductive surface. Readings can vary between rooms and homes, so the aim is usually to see a noticeable reduction rather than necessarily reaching zero.
Can I travel with my grounding mat?
Yes. The Grounding Mat and Soft Earthing Pad are compact and easy to pack for work, holidays and travel.
When travelling overseas, make sure the outlet is properly grounded and use a suitable travel adapter that maintains the earth connection.
