660nm red light is commonly used for skin, collagen support and surface-level tissue repair. 850nm near infrared penetrates deeper, making it useful for muscles, joints, tendons and recovery.
Not really. LEDs don’t emit one razor-thin line of light — they naturally produce a small band around their peak wavelength. So a quality 660nm or 850nm chip already delivers light into the surrounding red and near-infrared range. Adding more wavelengths doesn’t automatically mean better results; it often just spreads the panel’s available output across more channels, leaving less power concentrated at the core wavelengths doing the heavy lifting.
After testing different wavelength combinations, we chose to simplify our core range around 660nm and 850nm. Better dose, better benefits, simpler design.

The best choice comes down to the area you would like to treat and how much coverage you want in each session.

Choose a ProX panel if you want greater coverage for areas such as the back, shoulders, legs and torso. Larger panels are ideal if you want to treat more of the body at once or build a full-body setup at home.
Compare our red light therapy devicesA simple starting point is 10-minute sessions, around 3–5 times per week. You can gradually increase your session time if it feels comfortable for you.
Most people use their panel for around 10–20 minutes per session. There is no need to overdo it — consistency over time is generally more useful than very long sessions.
We recommend not exceeding 20 minutes on the same area in one session. Always follow the instructions supplied with your specific device and speak with a health professional if you have a medical condition or are unsure whether red light therapy is right for you.
For most sessions, start around 15–30cm away from the panel. This gives you strong light intensity while remaining comfortable.
For smaller muscles, joints or deeper targeted areas, you may prefer to sit closer. For a larger treatment area, step back a little further so the light covers more of your body.
You should feel comfortable during your session. A gentle warmth is normal, but the light should never feel uncomfortably hot or irritating.
Near-infrared light sits outside the visible spectrum, which means you cannot see the 850nm LEDs with the naked eye.
This is completely normal. When both red and near-infrared modes are operating, you will mainly see the visible red LEDs even though the near-infrared LEDs are working at the same time.
Red and near-infrared light do not contain harmful UV rays, but red light panels can feel very bright — especially when used close to the face.
Protective goggles are included with our panels so you can use them for extra comfort and peace of mind. You may also simply close your eyes during a facial session if that feels more comfortable.
If you have an eye condition, are taking light-sensitive medication or have any concerns, check with your optometrist or health professional first.

As with any electrical wellness device, use your panel as directed and do not use it if the power cord, plug or device has been damaged.
Pulse mode switches the light on and off rapidly at a selected frequency, rather than delivering completely continuous light.
Some people prefer using pulse mode as part of their recovery routine, particularly after exercise. It is an optional setting — you can still receive an effective red light therapy session using standard continuous mode.
Pulse settings vary by panel model, so check your product manual for the options available on your device.
The panels I ordered arrived quite quickly and in good condition with AusPost. I am still trying to discern distance for best use as there are too many conflicting reports and too many diverse products.. If Urban Hippee can advise that would be good. It was easy to hang… I actually had it put on a wall not door.

You’re definitely not alone; red light therapy distance can be made to sound far more complicated than it needs to be. For the ProPlus 300, start around 6 inches (15 cm) away for most uses, as outlined in the instruction booklet. If it feels a little intense or warm on your skin, simply move back a little. Consistency matters far more than chasing the “perfect” distance.

I have been eyeing off these products for ages and decided to gift them to myself for my birthday this week. I have been sitting and standing on the grounding mat every day, and sitting/sleeping on the grounding soft mat when I go to bed. I have also used the infrared MiniPro and I love it. Can’t wait to fully see results after weeks of daily use. The delivery, the ordering and the communication/customer service from Urban Hippie was excellent. I will look to buy more products again soon. This feels so powerful for a Mini. It’s excellent, and I can’t wait to continue regular use to see results. I was skeptical at first, as there are so many phoney brands out there, and initially psyched myself out upon delivery, and didn’t properly understand the pulse function (totally optional and meant for muscle recovery), but the service team was so quick to help me figure out where I went wrong and now I’m using it regularly. Very portable and easy to use. So far is working well on a hip problem I have and no more pain at night.
I waited to review my Red light panel. It’s been three months, and it’s working. I was a hairdresser for 43 years that takes a toll on the body, chronic back pain, shoulder issues, neck pain with severe nerve damage, and mix in chronic winged scapular, that’s me.
I’ve tried everything you can imagine, supplements, massage, chiropractors, acupuncture, naturopaths it’s been a nightmare really. I relented and started on pain medication.
Well, happy to say finally I’m improving due to the red light pro 1200, which has allowed me to reduce my medication, and hopefully, I can ditch it fully one day.
PS, I’ve been doing 20mins front and 20mins back 5 days a week.
