Blue light is a short-wavelength, high-energy form of visible light (ranging roughly from 380–500 nanometres). It’s what gives daylight its bright, crisp appearance — but when you’re exposed to it at night, it suppresses melatonin, the hormone that tells your body it’s time to sleep.
While most people know blue light from phones and computers can disrupt sleep, fewer realise that fluorescent and LED lights emit the same wavelengths. Around 25% of light from fluorescent bulbs and 35% from LEDs falls in the blue spectrum, creating chronic low-level strain on the eyes and contributing to oxidative stress in retinal cells over time.
Amber lenses work by filtering out specific wavelengths of blue and green light — typically between 450–540 nanometres — which are most responsible for disrupting the circadian rhythm. The amber tint absorbs and reflects these higher-energy light waves before they reach your retina. This allows only the warmer, longer wavelengths (reds, oranges, and yellows) to pass through — the same spectrum your eyes expect to see at sunset.
When these disruptive wavelengths are blocked, your brain naturally recognises that it’s nighttime and begins producing melatonin again. The result: your mind relaxes, your eyes feel less strained, and your body prepares for deep, restorative sleep.

Why we choose CR-39
When it comes to lens clarity, not all materials are created equal. Lens quality is measured by something called the Abbe value — the higher the number, the clearer the vision and the less distortion you’ll experience.
Most cheaper blue light glasses use polycarbonate (PC) lenses, which have a lower Abbe value and tend to create a slight blur or colour distortion. CR-39, on the other hand, offers superior optical clarity and a more natural viewing experience.

There is a unit called the abbe value which refers to optical clarity, the higher value the more clarity of the lens. Most cheaper anti blue light glasses on the market have a very reflective blue coating and are made with PC (Polycarbonate) which are rated as the lowest optical clarity of lens material available. Put on your red or amber colored lens glasses. If the blue circle color turns black, this will indicate that your glasses are effectively filtering all blue light.

This test will not work for our daytime glasses.
