6 habits to a better you in 2021
Bad habits are made to be broken and let’s face it, 2020 was a year that most of us are willing to leave in the past. It was a pretty rough on our social life, our finances, mental health and relationships. There has never been a better reason to work at making a better you in 2021 and a year for more self-love and improvement. Here are some simple tips to help you do just that!
Wake Up Early
Waking up early can be difficult in the beginning, who doesn’t enjoy a good sleep in? However, there are so many benefits to waking up at early. There is going to be more time in your day, therefore you’re more productive. This can also help reduce stress levels as you avoid the “morning rush” so, you can go about your morning feeling more relaxed and empowered.
People who wake up early tend to go to bed early, however in general they get a better night sleep. Staying up late can have an adverse effect on your body’s melatonin (sleep hormone) and circadian rhythm. As night owls tend to expose themselves to more blue light staring at digital screens, this makes it challenging for your body to produce melatonin. If you need to stay up late, be sure to wear your blue light blocking glasses! Click here to view some products available.
Make Your Bed
This is something so simple, yet can have a profound effect on your day. Watch this video of US navy Admiral William H Mcraven, he speaks about the importance of making your bed.
Don’t check notifications until you complete your morning routine
This one is so simple, but hard to do for so many of us. Reaching for that device and checking your emails as soon as you wake up trains your brain to react to everyone else’s demands before attending to your own. It also sets the tone for the day to allow yourself to be distracted. First complete the tasks you have set yourself in the morning, then check and action those notifications after.
Set aside 10 minutes a day to meditate, pick a time that works best for your schedule – after a workout, before you go to work, after you finish breakfast. Using an Earthing product will help deepen your meditation practice.
There are some amazing apps that can walk you through your daily meditation. Waking Up app created by Sam Harris is one of the easiest to follow and can be added to your daily routine, click the link here to check it out.

It burns calories, reduces stress, helps with depression, releases endorphins, increases bone density, reduces the risk of heart disease and the list goes on… No matter what your fitness level or goals, make 30 minutes of physical activity a priority in 2021, even if it’s a brisk walk or a yoga session, you’ll thank yourself later.
